Join Local Visual Desk
Local newsrooms need strong visuals to reach their communities, but few can afford a full photo staff anymore. The CatchLight Local Visual Desk supports newsrooms do visual journalism at a higher level. Our editors work directly with newsroom teams to plan, edit and improve their visual stories.
Members also get access to shared tools and resources, including software for organizing and archiving photos, training for their staff and a network of other local newsrooms to learn from.
Work With Studio
CatchLight Studio brings our editorial standards and our network to nonprofits, foundations and other mission-driven partners. You bring the brief. We assemble the right team of photographers, filmmakers, editors and designers, often from the communities at the heart of the story, and deliver photo essays, films and campaigns built to move audiences toward understanding and action.
Studio also runs hands-on workshops that teach your staff and contributors visual storytelling skills they can keep using long after we’re gone. Want to show off the work we’ve made together, or host an event built around visuals? We also produce exhibitions and live programs.
Become a Global Fellow
The CatchLight Global Fellowship supports visual storytellers around the world whose work drives social change. Every two years, we select three fellows. Each receives at least $45,000, plus mentorship, coaching and a trip to the CatchLight Visual Storytelling Summit.
We’re looking for photographers, filmmakers, educators and leaders whose projects reach new audiences and connect deeply with communities. Fellows join a global community that stays with them for life.
Applying is free and open to people of any nationality. The next call for applications opens in 2027.
